Oracle Database System Check using BRTOOLS

The checks and verification is to detect and correct potentially critical problems before these lead to downtime of the production database.

** Tested with UNIX / Linux operating system.

1. Login to your operating system. Switch user to ORASID. Execute BRTOOLS command. Select 6 for Check and verification.

1 = Instance management
2 - Space management
3 - Segment management
4 - Backup and database copy
5 - Restore and recovery
6 - Check and verification
7 - Database statistics
8 - Additional functions
9 - Exit program

2. Select 1 for Database system check. At here, you may just use the default settings. Press ‘c’ to continue.

2 - Validation of database structure
3 - Verification of database blocks
4 - Reset program status
BRCONNECT main options for database system check

1 - BRCONNECT profile (profile) .......... [initSID.sap]
2 - Database user/password (user) ........ [/]
3 - Use default check settings (default) . [no]
4 ~ Database owner for check (owner) ..... []
5 ~ Exclude from check (exclude) ......... []

3. Next is the Additional BRCONNECT options for database system check. You may also just use the default settings. Press ‘c’ to continue.

Additional BRCONNECT options for database system check

1 - Confirmation mode (confirm) ...... [yes]
2 - Query mode (query) ............... [no]
3 - Extended output (output) ......... [no]
4 - Message language (language) ...... [E]
5 - BRCONNECT command line (command) . [-p initSID.sap -l E -f check]

4. The database system check will start. Press ‘c’ again to continue. Wait till the execution process is done.
