
This SAP NetWeaver 7.3 installation was done using Software Provisioning Manager on platform Windows Server 2008 R2 64 bit and MaxDB database release 7.8.02.23.
Prerequisites
Before get started, please prepare all the media installation files. You can download the necessary files from SAP Service Marketplace. Basically, these are the media files required – You are advisable to use the latest installation medias and do always refer to installation guides and PAM before starting out this task.
• Software Provisioning Manager (SWPM)
• Installation Exports
• Kernel – SAP Cryptographic
• SL Controller
• MaxDB RDBMS
• Windows Server
Install the Windows Server 2008 R2 64 bit. Do not install the MaxDB database as SWPM will install the MaxDB database together with SAP system.
Installation
Launch the SAP Software Provisioning Manager and select the following tree,
SAP NetWeaver 7.3 > MaxDB > SAP Systems > Application Server ABAP
> Standard System > Standard System

Choose Custom and click Next. The installer will automatically log you off – click Yes. Then, you need to log in back.

Define the SAP system ID (SID) and destination drive.

If you have DNS to maintain, select the option Set FQDN for SAP system. Else, deselect the check box and click Next.

Locate the unicode kernel for NetWeaver 7.3 directory.

Define the master password for all users. So, all other users created during this installation will use the same password.

Enter the domain name if you are using Windows domain. Else, select Local Domain.

Click Next. (if you are using the same password for all users – Master Password)

Enter the MaxDB database name. The name should be the same as the SAP system name (SID).

Correct any errors found. You must make sure all results are passed before continuing this installation.

Specify the Windows domain for Host Agent. If no Windows domain maintain, select Local Domain.

Click Next. (if you are using the same password for all users – Master Password)

Locate the MaxDB RDBMS software.

Locate the SAP installation export.

Click Next. (if you are using the same password for all users – Master Password)

Accept the defaults. The suggested value is for initial installation but the value must be increase if you are adding additional application servers.

Specify the log volumes for your database.

Specify the data volumes for your database.

Click Next. (if you are using the same password for all users – Master Password)

Enter the general load parameters.

Accept the defaults. Click Next.

Accept the defaults. Click Next.

Click Next. (if you are using the same password for all users – Master Password)

Click Next.

Enter the diagnostics agent system ID.

Choose the Windows domain for diagnostics agent. Else, select Local Domain.

Click Next. (if you are using the same password for all users – Master Password)

Accept the defaults or define another number of diagnostics agent instance.

If you have SLD configured, choose to Register in existing central SLD. If none, choose No SLD destination.

Click Next.

Provide the path to the SAP Cryrptographic Library.

Verify the parameters before begin the installation. Click on Revise to change, else click Next.

The installation begin.

It’s complete now. Yay!

Reset the SAP* password and you can log in to the SAP system now!
