Directory Entries in Table Buffer
Parameter Description
Specifies the number of directory entries in the resident-table buffer. This is the maximum number of tables that can be buffered. Set the parameter to a large enough value to ensure that there are always free directory entries.
The efficiency of the resident-table buffer depends not only upon its size but also upon the number of directory entries in the buffer (the maximum number of tables that can be buffered). You can specify the number of directory entries in

One directory entry for every 3000 bytes in the buffer.
Small systems
700 to 1000 tables (minimum 100 tables)
Medium-sized systems
1000 to 2000 tables
Large systems
2000 to 4000 tables.
