Parameter
rdisp/TRACE_LOGGING
Short text
Switch trace logging on/off
Parameter Description
The parameter can be used if the trace is to be active for a longer period for troubleshooting purposes. In order that the trace files do not reach an unlimited size, it is possible to activate an automatic resent in case the files exceed a predefined size. Every trace file is saved to a “log” file before the reset. This log file has extended the name of the trace file with the suffix “.old”. The rdisp/autothtime parameter is used to define how often the trace file should be checked and, if necessary, reset.
Trace logging works for the work process, dispatcher, gateway, and ICM traces.

Values allowed
Value vector with up to three values x, y, z, where
• x is a boolean parameter that describes if the trace logging is on or off
• y is a size specification. This size specifies as of which file size the trace logging is to be executed. Without specification of a unit, the size is interpreted as a number of bytes. The units K (Kilobyte) and M (Megabyte) can be specified.
• z can be used in combination with the trace search (see below)
• y and z can be omitted if trace logging is not activated
The parameter values have the following syntax:
rdisp/TRACE_LOGGING = on, [n] [k | m] [global=on|off] | off
The first part specifies that logging is active. The value here can be either on or off. If logging is active, you can specify the file size in the second part.
Examples
rdisp/TRACE_LOGGING = off ==> No trace logging
rdisp/TRACE_LOGGING = on, 1000 ==> Trace is logged if the trace file contains more than 1000 bytes
rdisp/TRACE_LOGGING = on, 20 k ==> Trace is logged if the trace file contains more than 20 kilobytes
rdisp/TRACE_LOGGING = on, 30 m ==> Trace is logged if the trace file contains more than 30 megabytes
The addition global=on or global=off only has an effect if, at the same time as rdisp/TRACE_LOGGING, rdisp/TRACE_PATTERN_0 is also set. If a pattern is found, it specifies if the trace logging is to be deactivated globally on all servers or only locally on the server that found the pattern.
