Use
You are using the transaction code KTRAN, search function for objects, transactions or tables.

Dependencies
You can preset the search options using the ‘Technical Settings’ button.

- Automatic Search is active,
- The search entry will automatically read after 0.4 seconds without manual input, and the search begins. Once the results have been displayed, you can make a new entry at any time, and this entry is used for a new search.
- Restrict Display of Transactions to Authorizations
- If you restrict the display of transactions to those of the user, then only those transactions are displayed in the results for which you have authorization S_TCODE.
- If you do not set this indicator, all relevant transactions for the search entry are displayed in the results list, and you can see in the authorization column whether you have authorization for the transaction or not.
- No Authorization Check During Search (for Performance Reasons)
- If you restrict the display to the authorizations when you make the settings for the table search, the logic by the combination of authorization objects S_TABU_DIS and S_TABU_NAM as follows:
- If you have set the indicator, then an authorization check of each individual table is made once the tables have been determined (which can be time-consuming depending on the number of hits). Whether or not you have authorization can be seen in the results list in the authorization column.
- If you have not set the indicator, no check is made and the system will display all of the relevant tables. If you attempt to branch to the table, a message is issued if you do not have the required authorization.
- If you restrict the display to the authorizations when you make the settings for the table search, the logic by the combination of authorization objects S_TABU_DIS and S_TABU_NAM as follows:
The other indicators correspond to the pushbuttons in the search display.
You have various search options that you can set by pushbutton:
- All Languages
- If this option is active, the entry is searched for in all of the languages installed in the system. This significantly increases the number of hits.
- Exact Search:
- ‘*’ is added in front and behind the entry in the standard system. If this option is active, precisely this string is searched for. Further, when searching for tables the search is only in table names, and when searching for transactions only in the transaction code field. A ‘+’ at any point stands for a placeholder for exactly this one place.
- Search Left-Aligned:
- The search is restricted to table names or transaction codes, and the entry is searched for in these columns left-aligned.
- Search Area Text:
- The system searches in the table or transaction code description. In the case of transactions, the system also searches in the assigned program names.
- Field Names Search Area:
- This option is only available for a table search, and extends the search to all texts for all fields in the table.
Searching for Objects
You can find detailed documentation in display or maintenance of an application area. SAP delivers two examples that you can display, and from which you can go to the documentation.
