Symptom
You cannot schedule, save, modify or start background jobs. This problem can affect jobs, which were scheduled with Transaction SM36 or which were implicitly defined by application transactions. The problem can also occur with event-controlled jobs within the upgrade, for example during the language import. In the syslog (SM21) you can find error messages such as,
‘No free server found’
RAISE_EXCEPTION JOB_CLOSED_FAIL
BP_JOB_MODIFY:Job cannot be modified.
BP_JOB_CHECKSTAT: Correcting status of a job failed
