
The SAP SID renaming activity was done in Windows Server 2008 and Microsoft SQL Server 2008.
1. Head to SAP Service Marketplace, search and download the System Rename.
Update: System rename has been integrated into Software Provisioning Manager 1.0 SP4.
2. Launch the sapinst. Choose SAP System Rename.

3. Enter the SAP system parameters for both source and target (SID and Global Host).

4. Justify the instance profile and instance number.

5. Enter the database instance name. Make sure the database is running during the rename execution.

6. Define the old and new database instance name.

7. Select which domain to install (if none, select Local installation).

8. Key the operating users password.

9. Maintain also for database schema password.

10. Enter the DNS and FQDN (optional).

11. Locate the license key (You can do this later).

12. Verify the parameters. Once confirmed, click Next to start the renaming process.

13. The execution starts now! You may need to monitor till the execution is completed!

Just for information purpose; once this is done you might face isue to start dispatcher.

By the way My installation interrupted at last step of SLICENSE installation. The step was searching for SLICENSE.EXE but i have only SAPLICENSE.EXE not SLICENSE.EXE.
So the installation interrupts at last step but after that i wasn’t able to start sap dispatcher.
