Parameter
es/disclaim_coasting_time_free
Short text
EM memory release after threshold value exceeded
Parameter Description
Background
You can use this group of instance profile parameters (see below) to control the amount of memory released for the operating system depending on the fill level of the extended memory and thereby minimize the associated disadvantages. Memory above an adjustable threshold in the extended memory is always released for the operating system. As soon as this threshold is exceeded, memory below this threshold can also be released for the operating system for a specified time period. When EM blocks are released, a definable size of the upper section of the EM block can also be released for the operating system.
es/disclaim_coasting_time_free determines, in a similar way to the parameter es/disclaim_coasting_time_alloc, how long the system should wait after the threshold value specified by es/disclaim_threshold_MB is exceeded when releasing a block before releasing the block for the OS.
Background
With high system loads a block released for the SAP system is probably written to the swap space, that is, to the hard drive. However, since the content is obsolete, it is better from a performance point of view to release this for the operating system.
