Symptom
You are using SAP GUI version 7.4 and subsequent version and getting the below error while dealing with SAPSCRIPT / SMARTFORM.
CSapEditorCtrl::GetObject: Object [number] does not exist
Solution
Download the SAPSLTESP00_0-70001053.EXE (SAPSCRIPT LEGACY TEXT EDITOR) item from the SAP Service Marketplace and extract to your SAP GUI installed location (C:\Program Files (x86)\SAP\FrontEnd\SAPgui).
The solution is also stated as in SAP Note 2267927 – Error message “CSapEditorCtrl::GetObject: Object <number> does not exist” with SAP GUI 740 Patch 5 or above.
- Download the older version of the “SAPscript Legacy Text Editor” from the SAP Software Download Center.
- Then, repackage it with SAPGUI. For more details, please see SAP note 2221815 – SAPscript Legacy Text Editor controls are not packed in SAP Windows GUI Installation.
- Configure your system to use the new MS Word Editor.
- To do so, follow SAP note 742662 – MS Word as Editor in SAPscript and Smart Forms
- Run report RSCPSETEDITOR and check that the checkboxes for SAPScript and Smartforms are selected. If they are not, select them and click activate, as described in note 791199.
