* search the media files from SAP Service Marketplace.
Preparations
Install the VirtualBox and configure Virtual Machine.
Install Windows Server 2008 R2.
Install Microsoft SQL Server 2012.
Installation
1. Launch the sapinst from the Software Provisioning Manager. Before start the installation, it is recommended to run SAP Prerequisite Check to ensure all the requirements are met.
2. Once you complete and verified the prerequisite checks, you can continue to navigate as below, SAP NetWeaver 7.4 > MS SQL Server > SAP Systems. In this example, we are going to install the Standard System of Application Server ABAP.
3. Select Custom Parameter Settings.
4. Choose OK to log off. You need to log in back to continue the installation.
5. Set the SID.
6. Set the FQDN & enter the DNS (you can skip).
7. Locate the required kernel (UNICODE Kernel 740)
8. Enter the Master Password.
9. Define the domain model installation (we use Local Domain for this installation).
10. Maintain the operating system user password.
11. Enter the database instance name.
12. Click Next.
13. Define the Windows Domain for Host Agent.
14. Enter the operating system password for SAPADM.
15. Locate the installation export.
16. Define the SAP database schema password.
17. Define the expected system size.
18. You can adjust the database configuration files sizes and location. Once done, click Next.
19. Accept the default configuration of tempdb. Click Next.
20. Enter the number of parallel jobs. SAP recommended to use maximum 2-3 R3loads per CPU.
21. Set the instance number for the Primary Application Server Instance and ABAP Central Services Instance.
22. Use the default and click on Next.
23. Set the ‘webadm’ password for ICM User Management.
24. Locate the SL Controller media file.
25. Accept the default and click Next.
26. Define the diagnostic agent SID and installation drive.
27. Set the diagnostic agent Windows domain (we use Local Domain).
28. Set the OS users password for the diagnostic agent.
29. Click Yes.
30. Define the diagnostic agent instance number.
31. Choose the SLD destination. (we choose to No SLD destination – since we haven’t configured the SLD)
32. Unpack the archives again (for diagnostic agent). Accept the default and click Next.
33. At last, the parameter summary screen! You can verify all the settings before start the installation. Click on Revise to adjust else, click on Next to start the installation.
34. The SAP Netweaver 7.4 installation is now begin. You may monitor the progress time by time – you may see the progress at the screen bottom.
35. SAP Netweaver 7.4 installation complete!
36. You can now login to the newly installed SAP Netweaver 7.4. You may need to reset the SAP* password on client 000 first before be able to log in.
