SDS_CONFIGURATION: Download Service Configuration

In the transaction code SDS_CONFIGURATION, you configure the SAP NetWeaver Download Service. You can perform the same activity with the report SDS_CONFIGURATION_MAINT (via SE38 or SA38).

The configuration is separated into two sections

  • Maintenance of S-user configuration
  • Maintenance of execution parameters

Maintaining S-User Configuration

This section describes how to create and change S-user entries in order to download files from SAP Service Marketplace and how to delete them.

Note: If you are not authorized to use transaction SDS_CONFIGURATION, the transaction starts but shows no data.

The download of files from SAP file shares is only possible after a successful login to the SAP Service Marketplace with an S-user that is authorized for the file download. Therefor SAP NetWeaver Download Service requires to provide corresponding user credentials for the login and authority check.

In this configuration, you specify logon credentials (i.e. S-user and password) for each user intended to use the SAP NetWeaver Download Service. If no specific entry for a logon user exists, you can specify credentials to be used for a system default entry. The configuration for the system default is taken into account, if no configuration exists for the particular logon user.

If both user-specific and system default entries exist and the download process with user-specific credentials fails to connect or to authorize, a logon with system default credentials is not carried out automatically. In this case, either correct the user credentials and try it again or delete the user-specific entry and log on with the system default credentials.

Creating an S-user entry

  1. On the S-User Data tab page, choose Create Entry.
  2. If you want to create a user-specific S-user entry, enter the user name, its S-user name and its password for download access in the SAP Service Marketplace. If you want to create a system default S-user entry, enter the default S-user and its related password and keep User Name empty.
  3. Confirm your entries by choosing Continue and then Save.Note: There can only exist one system default S-user entry per system. If it already exists, the creation process terminates with the message Entry already exists.
  4. The S-User Data table displays the new entry.

Changing an existing S-user entry

  1. On the S-User Data tab page, select the entry that you want to change and choose Change Entry.
  2. Enter your changes.
  3. You can change the S-user and its password for existing entries. The user name cannot be changed.
  4. Confirm your changes by choosing Continue and then Save.

Deleting an S-user entry

  1. On the S-User Data tab page, select the entry that you want to delete and choose Delete Entry.
  2. The entry is removed from the S-User Data table.

Maintaining Execution Parameters

This section describes how to create, change, and delete execution parameter entries.

Note: If you are not authorized to use transaction SDS_CONFIGURATION, the transaction starts but shows no data.

The execution of the SAP NetWeaver Download Service requires some additional operation parameters. Some values are hard-coded and set as default values, but they can be changed optionally.

In this configuration, you specify these execution parameters either for each logon user intended to use the SAP NetWeaver Download Service or only once as system default entry. If execution parameter entries exist for both the particular logon user and the system default, only the user-specific parameters are used for the download. If no execution parameter entries are specified for the logon user, the configuration for the system default is taken into account. If a system default entry is also not specified, the hard-coded default values are used.

Creating a user-specific execution parameter

  1. On the Execution Parameters tab page, choose Create Entry.
  2. In the upcoming dialog box, for all fields the hard coded system defaults are set. Enter here the respective values for your configuration. If you want to create a system default execution parameter, enter all values except the user name.
  3. Confirm your entries by choosing Continue and then Save.

Changing an existing execution parameter

  1. On the Execution Parameters tab page, select the entry that you want to change and choose Change Entry.
  2. Enter your changes.
  3. You can change all parameters but the user name.
  4. Confirm your changes by choosing Continue and then Save.

Deleting an execution parameter

  1. On the Execution Parameters tab page, select the entry that you want to delete and choose Delete Entry.
  2. The entry is removed from the Execution Parameters table.
