ATC: Transfer Setup & Configuration

Data Transfer

With this dialog, you can transfer data between ATC systems.

After you finish ATC customizing on a satellite development system, you can transfer the customizing settings – such as the default Code Inspector check variant – to other satellite development systems.

How to Transfer Data

Enter the RFC destination of the remote system, choose the data transfer mode in the Mode field, and specify which data should be transferred. The data transfer takes place while you wait when you click Transfer Data.

For the data transfer mode, you have the following choices:

  • Pull Data from Remote System: The ATC reads the data from the remote system and overwrites the data in this system.
    • Example: Use this mode if you are on a satellite development system and want to get fresh data from the central ATC system.
  • Push Data to Remote System: The ATC writes data to the remote system, overwriting the data in that system.
    • Example: Use this mode to push data from the one development system to other satellite development systems.

You can choose the type of data to transfer:

  • Exemptions
    • By default: Exemptions that have changed during the last 14 days.
  • Local Priorities – Priority settings for checks from your Code Inspector configuration
  • The configuration data from transaction ATC, including the following:
    • The exemption policy – “exemptions allowed”, “exemption scope”
    • The policy for checking objects in transport requests at their release
    • The name of the standard Code Inspector check variant.

Notes:

  • Exemption requests from development systems are created on the master ATC system, if you are doing central ATC quality checking. There is no need to transfer exemptions from satellite development systems to the ATC master system.
  • You can use a background job to distribute exemption status changes to satellite development systems from the ATC master system. Further, exemptions are transmitted along with results, if ATC central results are published to development systems. You need only use this function for quick transfers of exemption status between job runs.
  • Be sure that the standard check variant is defined in your systems. This function transfers the name of the check variant, and not the definition of the check variant.
