You are getting below error message while opening an attachment from the SAP system.
Cannot determine a front-end path
(Message CMS197)
The issue is due to,
1) You are trying to download and display the files stored with SAP ArchiveLink and you are not able to download more than 50 files. Download of 51st file results in blank screen
2) While opening files, a temporary copy is created in appropriate SAPWORKDIR directory. If number of the temporary files reaches 50, no other files can be opened and error message appears ” CMS 197 Cannot determine a front-end path “
Solution
Check SAP GUI Settings which control the behaviour of temporary files:
- Launch the SAP Logon, go to Options, and select Local Data > File Lifetime.
- Under “Deletion of Files and Subfolders in Documents Folder”, you can choose either
- “Always during SAP Logon (Pad) shutdown” or
- “File lifetime (date modified) [days]”, e.g. 30 days
- Once done, restart your SAP GUI and download the attachment again.
