While upgrading the Oracle patch (in Windows environment), you have stuck with the following error,
Certain files which need to be reinstalled by Oracle Universal Installer are being used by one
or more applications.Please close any running applications before continuing.
Solution
Before kick start the upgrade, ensure you have close / exit all the Oracle services and Oracle database.
You can do stop the Oracle services from Windows Services (service.msc). Check from the Windows Task Manager and kill any left process. Retry your Oracle upgrade.
If the above solution is not working, open the Windows Services (service.msc), locate all the Oracle services and change the Startup Type to Manual. Restart the Windows operating system and retry the Oracle upgrade.
