Diagnosis
To allow the consistent deletion of a job, the relevant objects are locked using the SAP enqueue mechanism before they are deleted. This message indicates that this lock could not be set correctly.
System Response
Deletion of job [XYZ] was cancelled. The job was not deleted.
Procedure
Check why the lock failed. In particular, check the following:
- Generate a list of all the current SAP Systems (using Transaction SM51). If this list cannot be generated, there is a problem with the SAP message server. The lock problem is directly related to this.
- The job may be locked by another component. This lock can be long or short term. If it is short-term, simply repeating the delete operation may work. If the lock is long-term, check the lock overview to find out which component is locking the job.
