How to Enable & Capture SAPconnect Trace

You can enable the SAPconnect trace using the transaction SCOT or SCON (SCOT in releases < 731) or transaction code SOST or SOIN through the menu tab Utilities >Trace Settings.

You can activate or deactivate the trace for outbox/inbox messages. As an example, the activation below is to trace for outbox messages, which means, the SAPconnect will capture the trace messages sent from the system.

Apart from this, you can enable the global trace which logs the start and end of a send order.

The same capability can be obtain with the transaction code SOST or SOIN.

In the newer version of transaction code SCOT, the SAPconnect trace can be activated under the Settings > SMTP Connection > Outbound Messages / Inbound Messages.

So, you have successfully enabled the trace, and how do you see and analyze the trace?

If you are using transaction code SOST, select the request and click on Trace as highlighted in the below screenshot.

The trace will be listed.

Alternatively, in the initial screen of transaction code SOIN, SCOT or SCOIN, go to Utilities and choose on Trace Selection.

Enter the send date, created by (if any) and click OK.

The captured traces will be shown as below. You can save them to the local directory if required.
