How to Obtain SM50 Work Process History

In this article, we are going to share 2 methods on getting the SM50 work process history from the SAP system, in which you can follow and perform at your own SAP landscape. This can be importance and useful when you are dealing with the root cause analysis especially on SAP system performance or any other Basis issues.

We have been using these 2 methods as part of our BASIS administration activity. If you have any other method, appreciate if you can share them at the comment section!

Method 1: Use /SDF/MON

Execute report /SDF/MON by using the transaction code SE38.

Enter the date of analysis and press execute.

You can concentrate on below items for work process data specifically. You can filter and analyze based on the time and the data below include all the application servers (if you have more than 1 application server).

  • Number of Active Work Process
  • Number of Active Dialog Work Process
  • Number of Available Work Process for RFCs

Method 2: Use ST07

Using the /SDF/MON report is always be the preferable method, but in case of this report is not been scheduled, you can use transaction code ST07 instead.

Open transaction code ST07. Click on History.

Define the period. In this example, we want to capture the historical value based on the date, 08.08.2020 – 08.08.2020. Click OK.

Click on Period drilldown.

Click on Used WPs.

The actual data shown as below screenshot. You can see the work process occupied versus the time. The time 0 will be the 12 midnight and 23 will the 11PM. You can also display the view in 2D, 3D or in Groups.
