Password has been deactivated; user can’t log on to system using a password

The password has been deactivated; that is the user cannot log on to the system using a password.

This can be useful if the user wants to or should log on to the system exclusively using other methods, such as:

  • Using SNC (for SAP GUI and RFC-based front ends)
  • Using X.509 user certificates (for Web-based front ends)
  • Using SAP logon tickets (if you are using a portal / Workplace)

The user also has to change his or her password if the password no longer fulfills the current password rules and immediate password change is required with profile parameter login/password_compliance_to_current_policy.

As an alternative to an individual password deactivation, you can deactivate password logon in general (that is, for all users) by setting profile parameter login/disable_password_logon.

The user administrator can remove the individual password deactivation by assigning a new initial password. If password logon is deactivated in general, assigning a new password does not mean that the user can log on using a password.
