Symptom
When you try to view the excel inplace – the contents inside the excel are missing.
Solution
1. Follow the required setting from SAP Note 696069 – No data when view Excel Inplace on ALV with Office 2003/XP.

To use the Excel Inplace functionality make sure the security settings for Macro is set to Medium and the option “Trust access to Visual Basic Project” must be checked on Tools->Macro->Security->Trusted Sources tab.Required settings in Office 2007:

To use the Excel Inplace functionality, select ‘enable all macros’ in Macros settings and the option “Trust access to Visual Basic Project” must be checked on File->Options->Trust Center->Click ‘Trust Center Settings’ button->Macro Settings.This is required with MS Office XP, MS Office 2003, MS Office 2007, MS Office 2010 , MS Office 2013.
2. The best approach, just update / patch your SAP GUI version to the latest.
