PRGN_COMPARE_ROLE_MENU: Update of Application Groups in Role Menu

Purpose

You have added application groups (for example, Fiori tile catalogs or UCON communication assemblies) to the menu of roles. The applications contained in the application groups have also been added to the role menu as subnodes of the groups.

If you add applications to a group or delete applications from a group, you must update the role menu. You can perform this comparison directly in transaction PFCG. In change mode, select the application group in the role menu. If you choose Details, a popup appears containing an overview of the changes that you have to make in the role menu.

Use this program if you want to find all roles where the role menu needs to be adapted and execute the changes as a mass operation.

Selection

As well as the standard selection for roles, you can also restrict the search to a type of application group.

Output

The output shows the found application groups and the applications they contain. The status shows whether the application group needs to be compared. The Comparison column informs you whether an application needs to be deleted from the menu or added to it. If errors or warnings occur during the evaluation of the application groups, you can display the messages by choosing the icon in the column Messages for Application Group.

The authorization status corresponds to the specification on the Authorizations tab in transaction PFCG.

Activities

The Adapt Menu function updates all selected application groups automatically.

If changes have been made to the role menu, it is necessary to merge the current authorizations with the new authorization default values. You can simulate the merge by using mass generation (transaction SUPC).

Role Transport

On the selection screen, you can see whether a setting is active for transporting client-specific customizing objects in transaction SCC4, and if so, which one.

For the “Automatic Recordings of Changes” setting, you can select the generated authorization profiles and the personalization data as optional transport components and enter the required customizing request for role recording. The text in parentheses after the input field indicates that the specified request is only used for roles that are not set in another request by existing recordings. If you do not specify a request on the selection screen, but it is still possible to select a request for at least one of the roles you have selected, you will get the usual dialog window for selecting the request later on when you save the mass changes.

For detailed information about using the SCC4 setting in relation to role maintenance, see SAP Note 1723881.
